Vampy doll makeup

Hi beauts!

Yes yes, its another makeup look! Lately I have been loving vampy looks and I purchased Illamasquas pure pigment in ore recently and couldn't wait to use it- I have a swatch in a previous post here. I can see why everyone has hyped up this shade- its so beautiful! Looking closer it has so many different reflects of shimmer and glitter and simply looks stunning.

This look was kind of inspired by pin up looks. I was browsing through them on Google and loved how the eyeliner framed the eyes. Instead of doing a traditional pin up makeup or modern look I decided to go for it in true lookamillion style! I started off really bronzey and natural and it looked lovely but didn't have the wow factor. So I added some liner underneath the eyes and dramatic lashes top and bottom with deep red lips to really make a statement.

I teamed my look up with a black tassel headscarf and big hooped bronze and black earrings to add a more exotic feel to the look.
Take a browse through my pictures and let me know what you think- I love reading about what you lovelies have to say!

FOTD: Illamsqua precision ink in havoc

Hey blog readers!

Thought I would share with you my FOTD and a little about the products I have been wearing today.

Products used
FACE- Rimmel match perfection and Illamasqua rich liquid
CONCEALOR- Collections 2000 lasting perfection and Mac studio finish
BLUSH- Illamasqua seduce cream blush
HIGHLIGHT- Mac cream colour base
LINER- Illamasqua precision ink in havoc
EYELINER- Rimmel pencil in nude
MASCARA- Bourjois clubbing mascara
BROWS- Illamasqua eyebrow cake in thunder

For my foundation im wearing my Rimmel 25 hour foundation mixed with a drop of Illamasqua rich liquid. I mix every foundation I wear with my rich liquid to give a coverage boost- to read my reveiw on this holy grail product click here.

I love the Rimmel 25 hours foundation it has such a lovely medium coverage and thin consistency it feels so light on my skin. It smells so good too! The fragrance isn't too overpowering so doesn't break me out.

For my concealor I opted for my Collections 2000 lasting perfection concealor- its only £3.49 with an amazing coverage and Mac studio finish concealor on any blemishes. The collections 2000 concealor is definitely a staple in my everyday makeup kit, it stays on all day and covers so well, the price is literally hard to believe for what your getting out of this product.

I powered my T zone with my Mac studio fix powder as I tend to get oily here otherwise I am very dry- and went for dewy cheeks with Illamasqua cream blush in seduce and Mac cream colour base in pearl to highlight. I have been absolutely loving Illamasquas cream blush in seduce for dewy, dolly pink cheeks, it looks so natural yet makes me appear so flushed (it has kind of worn off in this pic), it has become my everyday blush.

I wanted a twist to the average cat liner so went with Illamasquas precision ink in havoc. Its a beautiful deep purple shade. The applicator is so sharp allowing me to create a perfect point and the formula dries glossy which is nice. The formulas for the precision inks are amazing- once they have dried there is no budging. I teamed my liner up with defined brows using only the best- Illamasqua eyebrow cake in thunder.

To make my eyes appear larger I applied Rimmels pencil in nude to the waterline. Its a skin coloured/off white shade. I love how it really opens up my eyes, giving me the doll eyed effect.

What makeup did you wear today? Let me know in the comments below!

Arabic nights with a dash of gold: Collab with mkupbycristina

Hey blog readers!

Today I'm bringing you an Arabic inspired collab I have been working on with the beautiful Cristina from mkupbycristina. I decided to go for a dark smokey eye with a gold lip and Cristina went for a elongated double winged liner look with black contour on her lips.

Cristina is a freelance makeup artist located in Los Angeles, CA, USA and also a full time mommy!
'I have always had a passion for the beauty industry, however I made it my career 4 years ago'. Cristina studied makeup at the Academy of Makeup and Fashion in Encinco, CA.
She specialises in weddings, beauty, media and print and has been published in five magazines with her latest one being Vogue Italia. How exciting!
Her favourite makeup brands are Cinema secrets, Mary kay and MAC cosmetics.

She created such a beautiful look! The detailing on the eyes is just stunning! I love the glitter liner on top of her liquid liner, its really makes the eyes pop in true arabic style. Her brows look so defined yet so soft- I love how she has matched her jewellery and added a scarf to go with the arabic theme.

Heres the look I created, products I used will be listed below. I went for a dark black smokey eye with a pop of gold in the inner corner and in between my liner. I tried to keep my gold shades very metallic.
I teamed these eyes up with platinum gold lips for a twist on the traditional arabic makeup. I also went with softer brows to keep focus more so on the eyes.
For the cheeks I went for a neutral pink blush and a gold highlight.

-Mac whisper of gilt extra dimension skinfinish (limited edition)
-Illamasqua liquid metal in electrum (discontinued)

Yellow flash!

Hi blog readers!

Yesterday I created a dramatic blue smokey eye with a flash of yellow in the inner corner. I have had Mac chrome yellow eyeshadow in my kit for such a long time and have never used it- so I wanted to come up with a look that I could use it in.

I really like how it turned out and my blue headscarf seemed to compliment the look too! In this post I'll be taking you through the products I used and the technique so you can try it at home.

 EYES

I always start of with the eyes, because I do such dramatic looks with lots of shadow if I get fall out I don't end up ruining and having to redo my foundation or concealor. I applied tape from my lower lash line going up to get a sharp wing.

EYESHADOW BASE-
This is a must have when we are using eyeshadows to prevent creasing and allow the shadows to appear more vibrant.
I used Mac soft ochre paint pot all over my lid up to my brow and then took Maybelline's color tattoo in timeless black and applied this on my lid.

EYESHADOW-
I then took the dark blue from the Sleek ultra matt darks palette and applied this all over my lid.
On a fluffy brush I then took chaos from the Urban decay vice palette and blended this into my crease to blend out the dark blue and also create a slight gradient.
On my brow bone I took Urban decays midnight cowgirl and applied this to add shimmer and dimension.
In the inner corner I applied Mac chrome yellow.
Underneath my eyes I applied the dark blue from the Sleek palette and connected this to the upper wing.
In my waterline I applied Miss sportys eyeliner in ocean.

EYELINER-
I applied Maybellines eye studio gel liner in a cat liner shape on the top of my lid.
I then went on with Illamasquas precision ink in alchemy on top in a cat liner shape to add some contrast with the yellow.

EYEBROWS-
For the brows I used Illamasquas eyebrow cake in thunder.

FACE

FOUNDATION-
I mixed a drop of Illamasqua rich liquid with my Rimmel 25 hours foundation. I applied this with my real techniques expert face brush. For my review on the Illamasqua rich liquid foundation click here

CONCEALOR-
I went in underneath the eyes with Collections 2000 lasting perfection concealor and some Mac studio finish concealor on any blemishes. I also added some Illamasqua concealor underneath the eyes in a lighter shade to add some highlight.

CHEEKS-
I contoured my cheeks with Sleeks contour kit in medium.
I applied Sleeks blush in pixie pink and Mac whisper of gilt on the top of my cheekbones for some highlight.

LIPS

I couldn't decide for the lips so tried a pink and a nude lip. I personally liked the nude lip better with this eye makeup look, but the pink looked cool too!

NUDE LIPS-
For the nude lips I simply used Revlons matt lipstick in nude attitude

PINK LIPS-
For the pink lips I used Illamasquas pencil in manic with wanton lipstick and drench lipstick in the outer corners.

Which lip was your favourite? Would you wear this look? Let me know in the comments below!

Sleek MakeUP Valentines competition

Hi blog readers!

I entered the Sleek MakeUP Valentines competition which I thought would be fun when I came across it on their Facebook page. I have never entered a public makeup competition before so this is really exciting for me- because I have no clue to the reaction I am going to get.

I thought I would go for a dramatic makeup look in true LOOKAMILLION style. I went for a dark black smokey eye  blended into red with a pop of gold in the inner corner. I did a double winged eyeliner with gold in the middle and red rhinestones in my lid to really make the look stand out. I paired it with a blood red lip to give a more sexy feel to this valentines look- which I really felt complimented the dark smokey eyes.

Mac diva VS Sleek vamp

Hey blog readers!

This post is on a comparison between the famous Mac lipstick in diva compared to the Sleek vamp lipstick. Both these colours are very similar in colour and I thought I would dedicate a post to them both and let you decide if Sleek lipstick in vamp is worthy to be considered a 'dupe' for Mac diva.

First Look

With flash
No flash
By looking at the lipsticks closely we can see the Mac diva lipstick has a richer colour. The sleek lipstick appears lighter and more red whereas the mac lipstick looks more burgundy and slightly more purple.

Swatches
With flash- Left- Mac diva. Right-Sleek vamp
No flash- Left- Mac diva, Right-Sleek vamp
On my skin we can see how the mac one appears more richer again and the sleek one is more red- the difference isn't very prominent, but when looking closer the mac one has a better colour payoff- I did two swipes of each lipstick. With no flash the lipsticks look almost identical.

I snapped pictures of after I got a tissue and wiped away the lipsticks very gently. We can see more clearly the undertone of the lipsticks. The Mac one has left a purple stain and the Sleek one a dark red stain. Here we can still see how the mac one is more pigmented.

With flash Left-Mac diva, Right- Sleek vamp
No flash Left- Mac diva, Right- Sleek vamp

Sleek lipstick in vamp £4.99  3.5g

This lipstick is a dark red/burgundy colour with a matt finish. It is enriched with vitamin E so should protect your lips during the day and help maintain a soft texture.
The application of this lipstick was smooth, but I did find that the lipstick did apply a little bit bumpy as the lipstick was a little soft so the actual product didn't glide on as smooth as I would have liked.
The finish of the lipstick is a true matt and stays on for about 3-4 hours in full intensity-  it doesn't stick to dry patches on the lips and the formula overall for £5 is a total bargain!

Mac lipstick in diva £14.50 3g

This lipstick is a dark red/burgundy with a slight purple undertone and has a matt finish. It is a very rich lipstick and has amazing pigmentation one layer can give good coverage, whereas compared to the sleek lipstick two layers would give the same effect. It gives a slight more satin finish compared to the sleek lipstick. It has a really good staying power (about 5-6 hours at full intensity).

These lipsticks are very similar and honestly in terms of quality and application, I would reach for the Mac diva lipstick more, however I do think that the Sleek vamp lipstick is an amazing drugstore alternative and you get 0.5g more product and its only £5 compared to the Mac lipstick that is £14.50.
I wouldn't say it is a 'dupe' because they are not exact- but it is definitely a good alternative and I would wear the vamp lipstick as a toned down version of Mac diva.
I don't think its essential to own both- because they are very similar, and when on the lips you can hardly tell the difference unless you are paying very close attention.

If you apply 3 layers of the Sleek lipstick in terms of colour it looks almost identical to diva.

Which lipstick would you purchase? Let me know your thoughts on this 'dupe' in the comments below!

New additions: Sleek & Illamasqua

Hey blog readers!

I thought I would share some new additions to my makeup collection that I am excited to use in looks to come. I actually have purchased a lot more makeup than this recently but have used some of it already so have packed them away, but heres some I haven't got a chance to use yet

First up is Illamasqua precision ink in alchemy. A beautiful glittery antique gold. This colour is so unique and stunning, I have not seen it anywhere else- when I saw it in the sale for only £5 I snapped it up straight away!

Illamasqua precision ink in alchemy now discontinued

I bought Illamasqua rich liquid foundation in shade RF345 which I believe is the darkest shade out of the rich liquid range. I got this in the sale for £10. I love the formula of rich liquid foundation and find the tiniest pea size can cover so well due to its thick consistency. This shade is perfect for my more theatrical looks and also for black clients as it is black with a red undertone- so I can mix this in quantities with white to get my desired shade.

Illamasqua rich liquid available from www.illamasqua.com
RRP- £25

I purchased two Illamasqua pure pigments in the Illamasqua sale. They are beautiful shimmering loose powders that include reflects of different colour glitters and look beautiful on the eyes, and great mixed with lipgloss and also used as a face highlighters. They work best when used with a damp brush when used as a eyeshadow- as this gives a better coverage.

The first one I got was android in the Illamasqua sale for only £5! Its a beautiful gunmetal grey with silver and black reflective glitters.

Illamasqua pure pigment in android available from www.illamasqua.com
RRP-£15.50

The second one I purchased was ore- which I bought at full price. I believe this is one of the most popular shades of the Illamasqua pure pigment range and I have heard so much about it. Its a beautiful grungy looking bronze/brown with silver, black and gold reflects of glitter.

Illamasqua pure pigment in ore available from www.illamasqua.com
RRP-£15.50

I purchased two Illamasqua intense lip glosses in the Illamasqua sale which I have had my eye on for a while now! Illamasqua intense lip glosses are so pigmented and can be considered as a 'liquid lipstick' with a high gloss finish. They don't really need to be layered on top of lipstick for optimum results- because they give such good results without it. I was so excited to get them in the sale for only £5!

Illamasqua lip gloss in stranger is a gorgeous metallic, antique gold. A crazy purchase I know- but this lipgloss would look stunning in the centre of a matt red lip and even better with a thin coat on top of nude lips for a twist to the average nude lip.

Illamasqua intense lipgloss in stranger available from www.illamasqua.com
RRP- £14

The second intense lipgloss is succubus, this colour I have literally been eyeing up since it launched- but never purchased as I don't wear glossy lips often & didn't want to waste money on another red gloss when I already owned two! Its a beautiful blood red- so excited to use it!

Illamasqua intense lipgloss in succubus available from www.illamasqua.com
RRP-£14

On to my new sleek products...
I love the blush palettes sleek do- their powders have amazing pigmentation and their blushes normally retail at £4.99 but in this trio you get 3 for £10!

I already own pink sprint and lace and sugar has always appealed to me as it has deeper colours which I think would look great on those with warmer skin tones and also complement fairer skins as stronger blush colours.
I have to say though, I was disappointed with the peachy apricot shade in this trio. The colour itself was beautiful but the powder was chalky and I found it was not pigmented at all- I had to swatch over it about 5 times to get a good payoff.

Sleek blush by 3 available at www.sleekmakeup.com for £10

Sleek lipstick in Vamp is an amazing colour with a beautiful matt but moisturising formula. This can definitely be considered as a dupe for Mac diva lipstick- they are so similar! Blogpost to come soon on a detailed comparison.

Sleek matt lipstick in Vamp available at www.sleekmakeup.com for  £4.99
